HAITI EMERGENCY RELIEF FUND

Haiti — How the CPCU Society Can Help You Help

The CPCU Society Board of Directors voted unanimously on Jan. 19 to establish a Haiti Emergency Relief Fund. Member and chapter donations, by check only, will be gratefully received. The Society will match contributions up to $25,000. All proceeds will be forwarded on your behalf to the Clinton/Bush Haiti Fund, which was recently established by the two former presidents.

Please make your checks payable to CPCU Society, noting Haiti Emergency Relief Fund in the memo line. Mail to:

For those wishing to claim a charitable tax deduction, please make your check payable to the Clinton/Bush Haiti Fund but mail it to the above CPCU Society address. Please post your contributions by Feb. 19. Your check statement or canceled check will serve as your receipt. Contributors will be recognized on the CPCU Society Web site.

Outstanding Course Leaders

We are proud to announce, that The American Institute for Property and Casualty Underwriters in Malvern Pa. recently identified three Insurance Society instructors as " Outstanding Course Leaders"

Sharon G. Barry - AIC program
William C. Gilmartin CPCU, ARM, AIC - CPCU and ARM program
Patricia Hannemann CPCU - INS and AIC programs

The award is granted to instructors who have met several performance criteria, the most significant being student exam pass ratios compared to the National average.

Local Chapter awarded Gold Level
Baltimore, MD - July 7, 2010 Patricia Wagner, 2009-2010 Chapter President and Tony Steinauer, 2010-2011 Chapter President were notified by the National Society that once again the Maryland Chapter has been awarded the Gold Level of recognition in the Circle of Excellence. Pat and Tony received the news in a letter from Barry R. Midwood, CPCU, Vice President - Chapter and Professional Development, CPCU Society. It reads:

I am pleased to announce that the Maryland Chapter has qualified for the 2009-2010 CPCU Society Circle of Excellence. Your chapter has achieved the Gold level of recognition in this comprehensive program. Congratulations! Thank you for your dedication of time and talent this past year. Please extend our congratulations to your leadership team and all chapter members who planned and participated in your many activities during the year. In August, your chapter's 2009-2010 Gold Circle will be mailed to your 2010-2011 chapter president. Please insert your circle into the Circle of Excellence plaque you were sent previously and display it at chapter events. Make sure all your members are aware of this recognition and its significance. Plan time during your upcoming Conferment or I-Day program for a presentation ceremony. The Maryland Chapter will also be recognized at the Annual Meeting and Seminars in Orlando in a special Circle of Excellence display in the registration area and during the Circle of Excellence Recognition Luncheon. The CPCU Society's Circle of Excellence Recognition Program recognizes each chapter for its efforts to achieve benchmarks in chapter performance. Plus, the program provides officers, committee members, and task force chairmen with the structure and guidance they need to best serve their members. Chapters can earn Gold, Silver, or Bronze recognition by completing key initiatives of the Society's strategic plan. The Gold level is the highest level of recognition and the Maryland Chapter has been awarded the Gold for two consecutive years.
