The Maryland CPCU Society Chapter, Inc. members hold the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU®) designation, which is conferred by The Institutes and requires passing rigorous undergraduate- and graduate-level exams, meeting an experience requirement, and agreeing to be bound by a strict code of professional ethics.

Leadership Development
The Maryland CPCU Society Chapter provides opportunities to enhance leadership skills by offering hands-on positions within the organization to manage a variety of activities, including participating on or leading a committee (ie. Good works, membership, visibility, etc.), officer positions (ie. Treasurer, Vice President, etc.), and Board of Directors. We also allow qualifying members to participate in the annual CPCU National Leadership Summit.
Networking
The Maryland CPCU Society Chapter affords many opportunities to get to know other professionals both on a regional and national basis. Working with others on local and national committees, attending the many networking and social events, helping with service work and taking part in the educational sessions will help you become a visible and active member of the Chapter and you will create a farreaching network of friends and colleagues.
Service
Nothing enriches a persons life like service to others. Each year the Maryland CPCU Society Chapter reaches out to the local community to help in many different ways. For example, for the last 17 years the Chapter has collected toys at the Holiday Party for the students at Sharp-Leadenhall School in Baltimore. We have also participated in fund raisers and have helped stock the shelves at the Maryland Food Bank. Join your fellow professionals in reaching out to those who need a hand.
Education
The Maryland CPCU Society Chapter, in concert with our National Society, brings highly qualified insurance professionals to our area delivering up to the minute information about the new developments in our industry. Using both classroom and webinar settings, the Chapter hosts educational sessions on such topics as Ethics and Professional Liability, combines programming efforts with organizations such as Chesapeake RIMS (Risk and Insurance Management Society) and the Baltimore Claims Association.
The Chapter is a co-sponsor of Maryland "I" Day (All Insurance Day) and partners with other insurance organizaitons in the delivery of Continuing Education courses and current insurance events..
