bbIt has been an exciting and busy quarter for the Maryland CPCU Society Chapter, Inc. We have been busy collaborating with the Greater Chesapeake Charitable Foundation (GCCF), volunteering at the Franciscan Center, participating in Maryland I-Day, hosting the Leadership Summit and annual Crab Feast and annual meeting, and offering a free CE class to members.
Second Quarter 2017 Accomplishments:
-
The Leadership Summit was hosted by the Maryland CPCU Chapter in Baltimore, MD on April 20th and 21st. We participated in multiple seminars, gave away the very popular goodie bags that included Berger cookies and old bay, and had a celebrity appearance by Mr. Crabby. Thank you to all the volunteers for a successful event. The Leadership Summit is coming back to Baltimore in 2018 on April 19 – 21st.
-
On April 21, 2017 the Greater Chesapeake Charitable Foundation (GCCF) is a collaborative effort between 5 insurance and financial services associations, of which the Maryland CPCU Chapter is one of the participating members. The annual Bull & Oyster Roast is a fun, casual fundraiser, featuring all you can eat delicious, local food, drinks, band; a silent auction, money wheel and several raffle items. (Raffle items will be autographed, framed jerseys from well-liked players with the Baltimore Ravens and Baltimore Orioles.)
- On May 11, 2017 CPCU participated in MD I-Day, this year’s theme was “The Future is Now”. Our key-note speaker was Alec Ross, author of “The Industries of the Future.”
-
On May 17, 2017 we offered a free 2 hour P&C CE class to members on Cyber 101 and Social Engineering Fraud Coverage. Thank you to HMS for hosting the class.
-
On June 24, 2017 we volunteered at the Franciscan Center by organizing and distributing food to Baltimore City residents. The mission of the Franciscan Center is to provide emergency assistance and supportive outreach to persons who are economically disadvantaged in an effort to assist them in realizing their self-worth and dignity as people of God.

On June 27, 2017 we hosted our annual crab feast and annual meeting at Ocean Pride in Towson, MD. The weather was great and the crabs were good! The annual crab feast is a great time to network with your fellow insurance professionals, hear about what our chapter has been up to and what is coming up in the future.
Thank you to all of those who participate and volunteer! We look forward to an exciting third quarter. Be on the lookout as our “Tour of Maryland” moves to Harford County and we host our annual summer picnic.
