Karen  was appointed Deputy Insurance Commissioner in 9/2011, after serving as Assoc Deputy Commissioner since 6/2008. She serves as the Commissioner’s designee in a variety of administrative hearings and helps develop and communicate the agency’s mission, strategic initiatives, along with special projects. She served in the Baltimore City Law Department, was with Brown & Sheehan, LLP; worked in higher education for 8 years, serving as a VP at the Notre Dame of Maryland University. She was Born in Cumberland, Maryland & was educated at Notre Dame of Maryland University & the University of Maryland School of Law (J.D.)

Evelyn Browning-Garriss

Historical Climatologist
Browning Newsletter

 

For 25 years, Browning-Garriss has been the author of The Browning Newsletter and believes that a person is significantly influenced by the climate in which they exist. In understanding the past and present conditions of the climate in which they live, they can use the momentum of change to their advantage in the future. She admits she's not a scientist, as her degree is in anthropology and history.

She has been featured in The Wall Street Journal, Business News Network, and numerous other media outlets. She was dubbed the Weather Whisperer by the Toronto Globe and Mail, and is also known as The Weather Lady.

Damon Pesce

Damon specializes in Recreational, Ocean & Inland Marine insurance since1990. He has more than 10 years in the business and has become a well-regarded subject matter expert speaking regularly at various insurance & industry events.

He started his insurance career as a Life & Health Producer working for United Healthcare. He then worked for a Third Party Administration Company selling technology, customer service and claims services to mostly Term Life insurance carriers.

As an avid fisherman and sailor in Long Island NY, it was an easy transition when he joined Maritime Program Group in 2004.

Phillip Rager, AIC, ANFI

IMR Flood Training Specialist, Business Development Consultant

Phillip has 12 years’ experience in Flood Insurance and a total of 19 years in the Personal and Commercial Lines.  He is currently the Senior Technical Training Specialist for the Harleysville Insurance, Flood Department located in Harleysville, Pennsylvania as well as the Marketing Consultant for Flood.

He teaches flood insurance to agents, producers, adjusters and lenders across the United States and is certified as an instructor in almost all of the required states. He received his AIC designation in 2000, Flood Adjuster certification in 2005 and his ANFI (Associates in National Flood Insurance) in 2012.

Reginald "Reggie" Linda

As the Specialty Insurance Manager, Reggie oversees all product lines for Chubb Specialty Insurance, including tailored solutions for Financial Institutions, Publicly Traded, Privately-Held, and Healthcare Organizations with respects to Kidnap/Ransom & Extortion, Directors and Officers Liability, Employment Practices Liability, Fiduciary Liability, Crime, CyberSecurity, Media Liability, and Workplace Violence.

Reggie has over 17 years of industry experience, and has provided numerous educational presentations for the insurance agency/broker community. 

Dominick Zenzola

Chubb & Son, and Group Benefits Manager, Accident & Health
Chubb & Son

 

Dominick is based out of Chicago and is responsible for the growth and profitability of accident products countrywide.  Prior to this role, Mr. Zenzola was Accident & Health underwriting manager. He began his career with Chubb in 2000 and had previously worked for CNA Insurance as the director of underwriting for the company’s accident operation.

Mr. Zenzola attended the University of Iowa graduating with a Bachelors of Science degree in finance.

William "Bill" O'Toole

Professor "Emeritus" & Prognosticator
Hagerstown Town & Country Almanac

 

Bill became interested in amateur astronomy and entered Georgetown University finally majoring in math, obtaining a BS degree from Mount St Mary's College. After 41 years of teaching math & computer science, he retired. He obtained an MA in math at the University of MD and later took courses his PhD in computer science. He chaired the Department of Math and Computer Science at the Mount.

He lives in Emmetsburg and since 1969, has been the Prognosticator for the Hagers-town Town and Country Almanac. He has written for two other almanacs, one for the entire USA and the other Canada.

 

Ramiro Reyes

Ramiro started his engineering/loss prevention career with Chevron USA, learning refinery processes and engineering/inspection discipline. He then began consulting with overseas assignments. He spent 19 years with Kemper Insurance in their Loss Prevention Department, in the field and 15 years as Loss Control Branch Manager & Training Manager. He joined HSB in March, 2000 as a Risk Management Consultant. Now he is responsible for building relationships with Client Companies & their agency partners. He has a BS in Business Administration with extensive insurance education with Certification as Identity Theft Risk Management Specialist
